There's a place where winter stops being a season and becomes a worldly ritual: St. Moritz, at the turn of the twentieth century, when European aristocracy invented a new way of living the mountain - skiing in the morning and, as evening fell, gathering elegantly in the drawing rooms of the great hotels, as if there had never truly been a distance between the two. It is here that the idea of the St. Moritz jacket was born: the robustness of mountain fabrics told through the light, deconstructed build that is a hallmark of Neapolitan tailoring.
The St. Moritz model features a soft lapel and a deconstructed shoulder. The chest pocket, made as a slit, keeps the upper part composed, while the two patch pockets, closed by flap and button, carry the most authentic mark of the garment: deliberately placed low, they recall the functionality of mountain jackets.
On the back, two adjustable tabs allow the fit at the waist to be modulated, a direct nod to mountain jackets that had to adapt to different layers of clothing under the snow.
Not a ski jacket, but an après-ski jacket: the kind worn walking down the stairs of a liberty-style hotel, carrying the elegance of the mountain even once the slopes are left behind.
